About the JIA
 The objectives of the Jamaican Institute of Architects are to promote and increase the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members in all things relating to the profession of Architecture. To advance and maintain a high standard in the practice of Architecture in Jamaica, and to those ends, establish and maintain or to assist in the establishment and maintenance of classes, exhibitions or lectures in and to promote public appreciation of Architecture and the allied arts and sciences.

The profession of Architecture calls for men and women of integrity, technical competence, artistic ability and business capacity.

The Architect is entrusted with responsibilities in which his honesty of purpose must be above suspicion; he acts as professional adviser to his Client and his advice must be absolutely disinterested; he must act with entire impartiality between the Client and the Contractor.

The Architect has a moral responsibility to his profession, other Architects, associates and subordinates.

The Architect has a grave responsibility to the public to ensure that his work is safe and enhances the community and the environment
